ARISE (Accelerating Regional Innovation Strategy Exchanges)

This project brings together some of Europes leading innovative regions who have been involved in various levels of regional innovation strategy development for over 15 years.  The consortium partners offer geographical (north and south Europe) and economic/trading (Baltic Sea, Mediterranean basin) complementarities which provide a wide range of conditions in which to test evaluation and benchmarking methodologies and tools. The partners have a track record of EU project development, impact assessment and a culture of benchmarking embedded into their respective innovation organisations and offer a strong basis for policy dissemination activities.

The project objectives encompass the following elements:

• To use benchmarking as a tool to stimulate innovation and technology policies
• To accelerate regional innovation systems impact through improved consensus building and impact assessment tools
• To develop a continuous supply side mechanism to detect, measure and satisfy expressed need of beneficiaries
• To adapt innovation strategies to the regional environment: developing sustainable policies
• To allow inter-regional ccompanies on the basis of comparable qualitative and quantitative indicators
• To build interregional innovation system networks and to encourage healthy competition between regions
